EMAT is a unique database of European M&A transaction multiples & deal analysis reports.

It is a proprietary database, developped by Epsilon Research since 2007, and accessible online by its subscribers via the Epsilon Platform. 

 

The EMAT subscription includes an access to:

  • the deal reports database (deals analyzed by Epsilon research team, for which a price was found or reconstitued) [I. > III.] and
  • the analyst team & research service (on demand deal analysis) [> see EMAT - Epsilon Research Service]

 

I. Access EMAT

> Access EMAT Search Engine

  • From your DashBoard (private page, once you  have logged-in), left column: "Product Access" > "EMAT"
  • From your M&A Suite (if you are a customer), left column: "Subscriptions" > "EMAT"

II. Use EMAT Search Engine

> From the EMAT/ Research page

 

 

> Enter the search criteria

  • Sector: Epsilon own classification, based on ICB (International Classification Benchmark), which is used on financial markets including Euronext: click to see Epsilon classification details
  • Acquirer or Target activity / Deal Description : key words (in English)
  • Deal value: in K euros

 

> Access to EMAT Reports, on M&A deals analysed by Epsilon analysts:

  • 3 access modes (3 buttons under the search criteria): "Search", "Multiples Summary Table", "Export on Excel"
  • These criteria can be saved ("My Searches", left column)
  • "Reset" button: removes all search criteria - to start a new search

  • Select EMAT Reports published by Epsilon on deals meeting the criteria

NB: a Report is only published if the deal value can be found or recalculated (statistically ~1/4 of deals identified) - it is therefore not an exhaustive list of M&A deals on the sector.

  • The list of deal Reports available appear under the Search Engine

  • To view a deal Report, click on the magnifying glass on the left of each transaction

  • Create in one click a Multiples Summary Table for selected deals
  • You can create a "Project" to work online on your list of comparables - see below

III. Create a Project (Comparable Metrics)

1/ 'Multiples Summary Table' - from the Search Engine

 

  • 3 sub-pages:
    • 'Comparable Transactions' : list of deals selected for your Project
    • 'Multiples Summary Table': table of deals & multiples available, with automatically calculated mean, average, min, max, standard deviation
    • Sample Statistics: Deal sample breakdown by country, size, sector, deal type
  • You can only see multiples for the deals that meet your subscription criteria (for other deals: price and multiples in grey)

 

 

2/ Create a 'Project' to work online on your list of comparables

  • From the Multiples Summary Table page
  • Click on the blue button on the upper left ("Create a Project")
  • Adds the possibility to delete / add deals to the list
  • Automaticaly adds 3 sub-pages:
    • 'Project Management' : list of deals added/deleted
    • 'Project Team' : manage the team members that can access the Project
    • 'Project Note' : freetext shared within the Team

IV. Export on Excel

> "Export on Excel" Button

  • Export on a pre-formated excel spreadsheet the list of selected deals & multiple

 

> Limited credit export

  • For security reasons, the number of deals you can export is limited. Credits can be refiled upon simple request by email.
